GII has long been recognized for its comprehensive laboratory services, diamond detection technologies, certification, research, and educational initiatives. Notably, it developed its own diamond detection machine, Q CHECK, and has been a pioneer in certifying colored gemstones. The institute is a collaborative initiative supported by prominent industry bodies, including GJEPC, BDB, DEAL, MDMA, and GJEA.
A Seasoned Leader Takes Charge
With over four decades of experience in the diamond sector, Mehul Shah is widely respected for his expertise in diamond certification, grading, and technological advancements. Industry members have welcomed his appointment, viewing him as a capable successor to the outgoing Chairman, Anoop Mehta, who is credited with enhancing transparency and professionalism at GII.
Continuing the Legacy
Expressing his gratitude for the trust placed in him, Shah acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor. “I thank Mr. Anoop Mehta for having taken GII to the heights that it is today. I will strive to live up to his expectations and earn the trust that the industry has bestowed on me,” Shah said.
