A pink-diamond ring took center stage at the latest Christie’s New York jewelry sale, surpassing its high estimate to sell for $579,600.
The piece, which features a pear brilliant-cut, 2.79-carat, fancy-purplish-pink, VS2-clarity diamond center stone between two shield-shaped diamonds, had an estimated top price of $500,000 at the Jewels Online auction, according to Christie’s.
In total, the auction — which ended Wednesday — raked in $10.1 million, with eight of the top 10 pulling in prices above their high estimates.
Among the items that sold were 49 lots from the private collection of a distinguished family, spanning antique jewels to 1970s designs. Pieces from popular houses like Cartier, David Webb, and Van Cleef & Arpels also outperformed estimates.

This ring features a pear modified brilliant-cut, 18.72-carat, light-brown-pink, SI2 diamond. It brought in $567,000 against a $500,000 upper presale price. A Graff pendant necklace featuring a pear modified brilliant-cut, 10.11-carat, D-color, VVS1 diamond with the potential to be internally flawless sold for $504,000, surpassing its $500,000 upper estimate. Christie’s sold these earrings with two square emerald-cut, D-color diamonds — one weighing 5.15 carats with VS1 clarity, and the other a 5.01-carat, VVS2 stone. They exceeded their $300,000 presale high price tag at $365,400. This ring featuring a rectangular emerald-cut, 16.13-carat Ceylon sapphire and round and baguette-cut diamonds brought in $264,6000, beating its $250,000 high estimate. A ring with a pear brilliant-cut, 6.44-carat, D, VVS2 diamond — which the auction house offered without reserve — went for $252,000, just passing its $250,000 top estimate. A bracelet featuring 31 emerald-cut, G to I, IF to VS2 diamonds with a total weight of 46.88 carats achieved $226,800, within its estimated range. It also had no reserve price. Bearing a rectangular emerald-cut, 14.49-carat Colombian emerald with rectangular step-cut and baguette diamonds, this ring brought in $201,600, just above its $200,000 presale price tag. Smashing its $50,000 upper estimate, this ring containing an oval mixed-cut, 4.02-carat Mozambican ruby between trapezoid-shaped diamonds sold for $201,600. Another piece on offer without reserve was this ring with a square emerald-cut, 15.57-carat, L, VS1 diamond. It brought in $189,000, within its expected range.
