Christie’s will be offering 21 jewels from a private JAR collection at its upcoming Geneva sale, including an Apricot Blossom bracelet that could fetch up to $650,000.
The bangle, featuring round diamonds in reddish-orange and yellow enamel with blackened silver and yellow gold, will appear at the May 14 Magnificent Jewels auction, Christie’s said Wednesday. The group, A Bouquet of Gems: A Collection of Jewels by JAR, has not previously appeared on the market or at auction. Christie’s assigned the pieces, some of which are pavé-set in the jeweler’s signature style, a mid estimate of $3 million in total.
The auction house hailed the “wonderful color combinations” and designs in the collection, which it called “a tribute both to the innovative style of the designer and also to the elegance of the owner who amassed such a fine group of jewelry.”
“Producing a mere 70 to 80 pieces each year, JAR’s jewelry is highly exclusive and coveted by collectors,” Christie’s added. “Each piece is unique, crafted for specific clients, adding to the allure and value of his design.”
Separately, another JAR piece, a ring containing the 23.24-carat Golconda Blue diamond, will carry a $50 million high estimate at the sale. However, some experts predict it will smash records to sell for as much as $100 million.
