A pink-diamond ring is set to lead Sotheby’s upcoming New York auction, carrying an estimate of up to $4.3 million.
The piece, by designer Valentin Magro, bears an emerald-cut, 7-carat, fancy-intense-purplish-pink, internally flawless stone. It will feature in the December 11 Magnificent Jewels sale, Sotheby’s said last week. The ring is one of several colored diamonds in the top 10.
Some important collections will also grace the auction block, including that of famed singer, dancer and art patron Merle Reskin. Jewels belonging to Millicent Rogers, granddaughter of Standard Oil partner Henry Huttleston Rogers, who was the topic of many high-society columns in the 1920s and ’30s, will also be up for sale. Only one other jewel belonging to Rogers has appeared at auction, Sotheby’s noted.

This necklace, which features a detachable cushion modified brilliant-cut, 69.02-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, SI1-clarity diamond, is estimated at up to $3.5 million. A ring with a cushion-cut, 10.33-carat Burmese ruby flanked by two pear-shaped diamonds weighing 0.71 and 0.70 carats is expected to fetch up to $2 million at the sale. Designer Hemmerle created this bronze chain necklace with a hexagonal-shaped, 44.64-carat Colombian emerald. It carries a price of $1 million to $2 million. Sotheby’s will offer this ring bearing a round modified brilliant-cut, 0.71-carat, fancy-red, I1-clarity diamond from the Argyle mine for up to $1.8 million. A group of 10 unmounted Kashmir sapphires weighing between 1.55 and 3.55 carats will hit the block with a high price of $800,000. This unmounted sugarloaf cabochon Kashmir sapphire weighing 13.18 carats has an estimate of up to $750,000. This ring has a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, 5.02-carat, fancy-orangey-pink, VVS1-clarity diamond center stone. It is priced at up to $650,000. An unmounted marquise-shaped, 3.32-carat, fancy-greyish-blue, SI1-clarity diamond is forecast to bring in up to $600,000. Featuring an oval-shaped, 16.53-carat alexandrite of Brazilian origin that changes color from purple to blue, this ring, which has diamond accents, is estimated at up to $600,000.
