Terry Chandler will retire as CEO of the Diamond Council of America (DCA), after more than 24 years at the helm.
Chandler first joined the DCA, a nonprofit that provides distance education and professional certifications for the diamond, gemstone and jewelry industry, in 2001, the organization said Monday.
During his tenure, Chandler played a pivotal role in advancing the DCA’s mission and strengthening educational opportunities, it noted. He has also enhanced its certification program and fostered industry-wide collaboration.
“Chandler’s dedication and leadership have been invaluable to the DCA,” said Jennifer Hammond, chair of the board of directors. “His commitment to retail jewelers by providing affordable jewelry education has left a lasting impact on retailers across the country and we are deeply grateful for his contributions.”
Meanwhile, the board of directors has carried out a formal succession process for hiring Chandler’s replacement and to ensure a smooth transition when he retires. Chandler’s last day will be December 31. The board will announce his successor in the coming months.
