“Susan Jacques has been an exceptional leader for both GIA and the global gem and jewellery industry,” said Lisa Locklear, Chair of the GIA Board of Governors. “Through her visionary leadership, dedication, and expertise, GIA has achieved remarkable success, even in challenging times. Her legacy ensures that GIA remains well-positioned to continue its vital mission of upholding public trust in gems and jewellery.”
Jacques assumed the role of GIA’s President and CEO on January 1, 2014, after serving as interim CEO for six months. Prior to that, she had been a member of the GIA Board of Governors since 1996 and chaired the board from 2008 to 2014. Throughout her tenure, she has played a key role in advancing GIA’s global reputation as a leader in gemological education, research, and laboratory services.
“At GIA, I have had the privilege of leading one of the most trusted institutions in the industry and working with passionate teams worldwide to uphold the truth about gems through innovation, service, and knowledge,” said Jacques. “As I transition to the next chapter of my life, I remain confident in GIA’s continued success and look forward to supporting a smooth leadership transition.”
