The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) has debuted a digital community to help connect trade members, allowing them to network, share knowledge and gain support.
LDB originally adopted the platform, called CiviGem, as a tool for the exchange after it noted a need for a centralized digital community to share information. The bourse is now opening it up to the global diamond and jewelry community in the hopes it will improve how the trade operates, it said Monday.
“As someone who has spent years working across different facets of the trade — from mining to manufacturing to retail — I’ve seen firsthand how disconnected the industry can be,” says David Troostwyk, president of the London Diamond Bourse and founder of CiviGem. “CiviGem is about breaking down those barriers, making us all stronger, louder, and more impactful as a united community.”
The platform contains a global industry directory, which users can organize by location, expertise, company type and trade association. It also allows them to message contacts directly and participate in community forums and group discussions in real time. Users can gain access to a library of information on natural diamonds, industry trends and best practices, as well as share and procure industry information. Additionally, CiviGem has a dedicated mentorship space to provide support to newcomers to the trade.
“Success in this industry has always been about connections — who you know, what you learn, and how you adapt,” added Troostwyk. “CiviGem brings that to the digital age, ensuring that no matter where you are in the world, you’re never more than a click away from the right people and the right opportunities.”
