Believed to have formed over 1,000 years ago inside a giant clam, the Giga Pearl has been officially recognized by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as the world’s largest natural blister pearl. It also holds a Guinness World Record for its size and rarity.
Reyes inherited the pearl in 2019 from his great aunt, whose family acquired it decades earlier from a fisherman in the Philippines. His goal is to educate the public about the existence of giant clams and the remarkable pearls they can produce. Many are unfamiliar with these marine creatures, as they are primarily found in the South Pacific.
Due to its immense value, the exact location of the Giga Pearl’s exhibition remains a closely guarded secret for security reasons.
