The African Diamond Council (ADC) has announced plans to adopt Authentia.io, a blockchain-powered traceability platform, to enhance transparency and accountability in the global diamond trade, as reported by Diamond World.
Developed over three and a half years, the platform is specifically designed for African nations involved in diamond mining. Authentia.io combines certificates of origin with blockchain-based tracking, empowering diamond-producing countries to assert the provenance of their mined gemstones.
The ADC aims to encourage key stakeholders, including the Kimberley Process, G7 nations, and the United Nations, to adopt the platform as part of a joint effort to promote transparency in the diamond industry.
